His entry into Bangalore Medical College was after securing top 10th rank in Karnataka common entrance test. He secured top 7th rank at state level in MBBS examinations for the RGUHS university. Thereafter, he secured All India 14th rank in the National level MD entrance examinations conducted by PGIMER, Chandigarh and completed MD in Internal Medicine with flying colors. Well before completing his last day of training of MD, he had confirmed his super specialty seat at PGI by securing All India rank 3 at DM level entrance examinations. He thereafter gained national and international recognition by obtaining national board certification from India and passing MRCP examinations from Royal college of physicians, London (United kingdom), with flying colors. He also attained further expertise by obtaining an European diploma in adult respiratory medicine from European respiratory society, Switzerland with a distinctive record. Subsequently, he also mastered his legal skills and knowledge on medical law and ethics from the reputed National Law School of India University and obtained an award for securing highest marks. Honoring his distinctive academic record and exceptional skills, he was selected as an expert teaching faculty at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, which is the ranked the top institute of the country in patient care, academics and research.  He focusses on providing quality care at reasonable cost and respects the principles of medicines like beneficence, non-maleficence, justice and autonomy. Dr Harshith Rao has presented research papers at national and international conferences on medical and pulmonary sciences and is committed to keep himself updated to latest research and developments in patient care. He has managed COVID Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit during the COVID pandemic and has contributed significantly along with other medical fraternity during the COVID pandemic in the best interest of the nation. Not just a doctor, Dr Harshith Rao is a passionate teacher and guided many students of medicine and pulmonologists to attain the competence at various levels. He has been affiliated with and is a member of various nationals and international professional societies. Dr Harshith Rao has proficiency in English, Kannada and Hindi languages.
